International Children’s Book Day (ICBD) is annually celebrated on or around April 2, Danish author and poet Hans Christian Anderson’s birthday.
Activities for International Children’s Book Day
1) Read and promote stories by Anderson
2) Introduce folk tales from around the world
3) Invite your clients from other cultures to share their childhood favourites and folk tales
4) Organise a time for the kids from the local child care centre to come and spend time with clients to read old favourites
5) Invite fellow staff members to have a lunch or gathering where they speak for about a minute or so about their favourite children’s book
